The Church Archive Center Berlin (KAB)
Since  the  autumn of  2000, the  Protestant Central  Archive  in  Berlin (EZA)  has  been located  in the  newly-constructed  Church Archive  Center (KAB), built  between  1999 and 2000. In addition  to  the EZA, this build- ing  also  houses  the  Evangelische Landes- kirchliche Archiv in Berlin (ELAB), das Archiv des Berliner Missionswerkes und das Diöze- sanarchiv Berlin untergebracht. The  EZA  is  responsible  for  the  archival records   of   the  supraregional   agencies, offices, and  institutions  of  the  Protestant Church.
The  ELAB  is  responsible  for  the  regional  records  of  the  Protestant  Church  of  Berlin- Brandenburg. In  using  our archive, one should  bear in mind that  within  the  supraregional records, archival  records  pertaining  to the regional  church may  be found and  vice-versa. It is therefore advisable for the user to become familiar with both archives. Users  who  have  formerly  used  the  archival  records of  the  Protestant Church of Berlin- Brandenurg or the Old Berlin  parish registers in the EZA should  be aware that  the records of both  these  holdings are  now part of the ELAB. The  EZA  had  formerly  only administer- ed these records.
All  four  archives  share  one common  reading  room.  The  administration  and  use  of  the archival  materials  fall, however, within the responsibility  of each  individual  archive.  Please address any inquiries  regarding an archive to  that  archive.
